we proudly present the second release of meduka records, the *chitlin circuits* ep. produced by two friends based out of vienna, felix rupprecht & paul walter. paul was responsible for the first release *shining ep* on the upstart label. felix was born in frankfurt am main but moved to vienna, where they both met each other in 2013. a few all night jam sessions later, this record was born.

lucy and rrose, now coming together as the lotus eaters, have established themselves separately as techno artists who are just as comfortable operating in the uncharted area of experimental music. running their own labels (stroboscopic artefacts and eaux, respectively), they have gained a cult following, both influencing and challenging the direction of techno.

arguably one of the most acclaimed and loved bands of the past 20 years, by both fans and their musical peers alike, the beta band formed in st. andrews, scotland, in 1996. innovative and singular, their unique musical and aesthetic approach to everything they did set them far apart from their musical contemporaries. together for a relatively short period of time, the three albums and three eps they released between 1996 and 2004 would nonetheless help define them as one of the most exciting and cherished bands of their generation. after acquiring the beta bands catalogue last year, because music will reissue their releases, starting on september 14th with a double cd best-of compiling all their best hits and a live show recorded at the shepherds bush empire (london) in 2004. because music will also celebrate at the same time the 20th anniversary of their 1998 compilation the three eps by releasing a deluxe vinyl edition gathering in a slipcase the eps champion versions, the patty patty sound and los amigos del beta bandidos with remastered tracks and coloured vinyls.

to commemorate our 10 year anniversary celebration, this new release comes in the form of our beloved deepchord presents echospace project. the set was recorded live at ghost in the sound on 05/26/2013 a few miles away from hart plaza. an official movement after party curated by the detroit paranormal society in association with echospace, and now re-mastered by rod modell. from the second the bass dropped, it stole the breath from the room! this duo started off as barely more than a rumor supported mostly by the continous scarcity of their records. the duo comprised of detroits rod modell and steven hitchell have spent nearly two decades producing low-key electronic music both bordering on the verge of myth. theyre considered by many the most noted producers operating in the dub-infused aftermath of the basic channel axis and all its myriad offshoots. once their critically-acclaimed the coldest season emerged on one the uk based modern love imprint, the curtain was unveiled and the sound of echospace was born. they ve often been coined the true heirs to the basic channel legacy but their work finds a home somewhere on the outskirts of the galaxy, where detroit soul ties to jamaican roots played through a tunnel in deep space. this evocative, immersive sound that is echospace was born out of a love and passion for analog circuitry, sound design, field recordings and non-conventional methods of recording. but its also work thats quintessentially building upon the detroit electronic scene where it was born, and that divine marriage of roots and vision make the work at once so highly considered, so pertinent and so timeless. this is the first new album from the echospace duo since the critically-acclaimed silent world (ost) 3lp/cd set dropped 5 years ago, it features live renditions of some of their classics as well as unreleased material. expect gorgeous plumes of sound deeper than the ocean floor, a rich analog tapestry made and performed in the heart of detroit, techno city!

born in a remote log cabin deep in the scottish highlands, eventual reality, the debut album from the james lÕestraunge orchestra melds jazz and electronic music sensibilities with a huge helping of heart and soul. in 2014 seasoned producer and musician ricky reid and his partner retreated from the city to embark upon a new life, in his own words Òaway from the constant, incoherent noise of the worldÓ. as he set up his studio, the clean air and spectacular surroundings began to provoke musical inspiration like never before. then, like a scene from Ôfield of dreamsÕ, a series of talented musicians from his former life visited the cabin for a series of late night jamming and recording sessions, leaving behind them hidden treasures to be discovered and lovingly pieced together by ricky over the following months. with nostalgia so much a part of the albumÕs creation, the james lÕestraunge orchestra canÕt help but appear somewhat spectral, after all they are truly the band that never was.

following last years compilation of archival recordings by suso saiz titled odisea, music from memory are thrilled to mark their 20th release to date with an album of new works by the spanish electronic music pioneer. recorded in madrid between january and february 2016, this is suso saizs first release of new music in nearly 10 years

for their first multi-artist compilation, music from memory take us on a trip to the heart of the amazon rainforest. outro tempo: electronic and contemporary music from brazil, 1978-1992 is a double lp that explores the outer reaches of brazilian music, where indigenous rhythms mix with synthesizers and where mpb mingles with drum computers. as brazil faced the last years of its military dictatorship and transition to democracy, a generation of forward-thinking musicians developed an alternative vision of brazilian music and culture. they embraced traditionally shunned electronic production methods and infused their music with elements of ambient, jazz-fusion, and minimalism. at the same time they referenced the musical forms and spirituality of indigenous tribes from the amazon. the music they produced was a complex and mesmerising tapestry that vividly evoked brazilian landscapes and simultaneously reached out to the world beyond its borders.

through the sparkle is a collaboration between french ensemble astr•d and american pianist and composer rachel grimes. rachel grimes is best known for her chamber music project rachelÕs, a hugely influential group formed in 1991 in louisville, kentucky, releasing six studio albums between 1995 and 2005. she has also released a string of contemporary classical works in recent years on labels such as temporary residence. astr•d is a collective of four musicians based in nantes, releasing records on rune grammofon and home normal. after years of mail and email back and forth over the ocean, from nantes to kentucky, astr•d invited rachel to come for a residency to make music together and play shows in france. they gathered for a few days, here and there, in 2012 and 2013 to write songs in cyril and vanina s home studio in the countryside.
